Art Inspired by Place

The Purpose Of A Map Is To Bring Us Closer To The People We Love.

Discover the story

I’m Jennifer Carland, an artist creating bold, abstract interpretations of the places that shape who we are. My work begins with real streets, neighborhoods, and cities, then transforms them through color, line, and layers into something more emotional - a reflection of memory, identity, connection, and possibility. Each piece is a love letter to place, created for people who believe where we’ve been is part of the story of where we’re going.

I am not an AI! Everything on my site is drawn by ME, not a computer. Each piece is drawn using a combination of watercolor paint, acrylic paint, chalk pastels, alcohol marker, ink and charcoal. And sharpie :) My artwork is scanned in as a high-res file which is then used to make the prints.

If you want something made with love by a real living artist, consider purchasing from one.

Why I Draw Maps

Featured In Set Designs

My work is particularly well suited to film and television set design, where texture, atmosphere, and visual storytelling are essential. See my work in "Friends From College" and "Spenser Confidential".

If you’re a production designer, set decorator, director, or filmmaker looking for artwork for an upcoming film or television project, I’d love to connect and explore how my work could become part of your set.

Exhibitions + Public Art

My work has been showcased at art fairs and placed in commercial settings across the East Coast, Chicago, and Nashville -connecting with collectors and art enthusiasts from a range of communities.

If you’re a curator, art consultant, or gallery professional looking for distinctive work for an upcoming exhibition, collection, or project, I’d love to connect and explore the possibilities.

Awarded A Thrive Grant

Recently awarded a grant to support a community mapping project designed to engage directly with local residents and explore the stories, experiences, and connections that shape a place.

If you’re interested in sharing your story of Nashville, reflecting on the places that hold meaning for you, or simply being part of a project that celebrates the people and places that make this city home, I’d love to hear from you.
