About Carland Cartography

Hi, I'm Jennifer Carland. Owner and Artist of Carland Cartography, LLC.

Every piece begins as a hand-drawn map, carefully built layer by layer.
Designed for travelers, designers, and collectors who see place as part of their identity.

I create artwork slowly, by hand, one line at a time.

Every piece begins with drawing. Not templates. Not automation. Not shortcuts. I start with a blank surface and build each work line by line, layering thousands of marks until a place begins to emerge - not as a literal map, but as a feeling.

My process is rooted in cartography, urban planning, and lived experience. I’m drawn to cities, landscapes, and destinations not just for how they look, but for how they shape us -how movement, memory, and identity intersect through place. The work evolves through repetition and refinement, allowing patterns, density, and rhythm to develop organically.

What results are abstracted aerial views and map-inspired compositions that sit somewhere between structure and intuition. They’re detailed, immersive, and intentionally non-literal, designed to invite interpretation rather than dictate it.

Each artwork is fully hand-drawn by me. Even when delivered as a digital file, the origin is always physical and human: hours of focused drawing, layering, editing, and reworking until the piece feels complete. The digital format allows the work to live flexibly in the world -scaled, licensed, and installed across homes, studios, hotels, and commercial spaces, without losing the integrity of the original process.

I’m especially interested in how art changes a space emotionally. The right piece doesn’t just fill a wall; it alters how a room feels. It creates atmosphere. It offers movement. It becomes a quiet anchor or a subtle portal; something you notice differently over time.

My work is for people who see travel as part of their identity, who care about intention over trends, and who believe their environments should reflect where they’ve been and where they’re going. For those who don’t decorate, but curate.

My recent work leans toward elevated, luxury presentation, reflecting an ongoing interest in how art can bring a sense of wonder, sophistication, and emotional resonance into architectural and corporate spaces.

At its core, my work is about perspective -both literal and philosophical. By mapping the world through abstraction, I aim to remind viewers that our environments are living, interconnected systems shaped by both logic and imagination. My practice continues to expand toward larger installations and site-specific commissions that celebrate the beauty of cities while inviting reflection on how humans orient themselves (geographically, emotionally, and spiritually) within the landscapes they inhabit.

I Hope to Create Work that Inspires Life's Most Meaningful Journeys and Celebrates the Places That You Love.
