A custom commission is a one-of-a-kind design created specifically for your project, location, or community.
Rather than selecting from an existing collection, you can work with Carland Cartography to transform a meaningful city, neighborhood, property, or destination into artwork designed with your space and story in mind.
Commissions are ideal for businesses, hotels, developers, and organizations looking to create a stronger sense of place, celebrate local identity, or give visitors an experience they couldn’t encounter anywhere else.
PART 1. Commission Fees start at $2,500 per Design.
This fee covers the artist's time, materials, and creative process of developing a custom Carland Cartography design specifically for your location and project, including consultation, research, design, and revisions. The commission fee does not include the final physical artwork, digital file, or licensing rights; your preferred final format and usage option are selected and purchased separately.
This fee includes:
- Custom location selection - Choose the city, neighborhood, property, district, or meaningful destination you want represented.
- Personalized creative direction - Collaborate on the overall mood, color palette, orientation, and visual style to complement your project and space.
- Creative consultation & revisions - The commission includes collaborative guidance and an agreed-upon round of refinements to ensure the final artwork feels aligned with your vision.
- Agreed Upon Deadlines - The commission agreement will state important milestones and dates when approval is needed and when artwork will be ready
A written agreement is required and 50% of the Commission Fee is due upfront. Commission fees are non-refundable. Commissions take a minimum of 8 weeks.
PART 2. PURCHASING YOUR ARTWORK
Once the design is finalized, you have the option to purchase a high-resolution production-ready file or a professionally printed artwork as a canvas, metal, or paper print. No original artwork is ever included. Customers who purchase a commission get a 15% discount on all canvas, metal, or paper prints.
