Copyright & Intellectual Property Notice

Unless otherwise stated, all artwork, designs, illustrations, maps, photographs, graphics, product images, digital files, written content, branding, and other creative materials displayed on this website are the intellectual property of Carland Cartography LLC and are protected by applicable United States and international copyright laws.

Ownership of Artwork

All original artwork and designs created by Carland Cartography remain the copyrighted property of Carland Cartography LLC, including after the purchase of a physical print, canvas, metal print, commissioned artwork, or other product.

Purchasing a physical artwork or reproduction gives the purchaser ownership of that physical object only. It does not transfer copyright, reproduction rights, licensing rights, or any other intellectual property rights in the underlying artwork.

Unless expressly authorized in writing, purchasers may not reproduce, copy, scan, photograph for commercial reproduction, distribute, publish, modify, create derivative works from, manufacture products using, resell reproductions of, or otherwise commercially exploit any Carland Cartography artwork or design.

Digital Products and Downloads

Purchase or delivery of a digital file does not constitute a transfer or sale of copyright.

Digital files may only be used according to the license specifically included with the product purchased. Any use outside the scope of that license requires prior written permission from Carland Cartography LLC and may require the purchase of an additional or expanded license.

Digital files may not be shared, transferred, sublicensed, resold, redistributed, uploaded to stock or design marketplaces, made available for download by others, or used to create products for resale unless expressly permitted by a separate written license agreement.

Commercial Licensing

Commercial use of Carland Cartography artwork requires an appropriate commercial license or separate written licensing agreement.

Purchasing artwork, ordering a commission, or receiving a digital file does not automatically grant commercial usage rights.

The permitted uses, locations, duration, reproduction rights, installation rights, exclusivity, and other conditions of commercial use are determined by the specific license purchased or by a separate written agreement between Carland Cartography LLC and the licensee.

Any rights not expressly granted in writing are reserved by Carland Cartography LLC.

Custom Commissions

Unless otherwise agreed to in a separate written contract, commissioned artwork remains the intellectual property and copyrighted work of Carland Cartography LLC.

Payment for the creation of commissioned artwork does not constitute a transfer of copyright or a “work made for hire” arrangement unless those rights are specifically transferred through a written agreement signed by Carland Cartography LLC.

Carland Cartography LLC retains all rights not expressly granted to the client, including the right to display, reproduce, photograph, publish, promote, exhibit, and license the artwork where permitted by the applicable commission agreement.

Prohibited Uses

Without prior written permission, you may not:

Copy or reproduce our artwork or designs in whole or in part.
Use our artwork on merchandise, products, packaging, advertisements, websites, social media campaigns, publications, interiors, commercial installations, or other commercial materials outside the terms of an applicable license.
Modify, trace, redraw, recolor, digitally manipulate, or create derivative works based substantially on our artwork for commercial use.
Use our artwork or digital files to create products for resale.
Upload our artwork to print-on-demand platforms, stock image websites, design marketplaces, file-sharing websites, or similar services.
Sell, sublicense, distribute, share, or transfer purchased digital files to another individual or organization.
Remove copyright notices, signatures, artist credits, watermarks, or other identifying information from artwork or digital materials.
Represent Carland Cartography artwork or designs as your own work.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

Unless expressly authorized in writing, Carland Cartography artwork, images, designs, digital files, photographs, and other creative materials may not be copied, scraped, downloaded, uploaded, submitted, or otherwise used for the purpose of training, developing, fine-tuning, testing, or operating artificial intelligence, generative artificial intelligence, machine-learning systems, image-generation systems, datasets, or similar technologies.

Social Media and Sharing

Customers, collectors, designers, retailers, and other visitors are welcome to share photographs of purchased Carland Cartography artwork for personal, editorial, or non-commercial purposes, provided that the artwork is properly credited to Carland Cartography and the sharing does not suggest ownership or authorship of the artwork.

Such sharing does not grant permission to reproduce the artwork itself, sell reproductions, create derivative products, or use the artwork for advertising or other commercial purposes without authorization.

Copyright Infringement

Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, modification, commercial use, or other infringement of Carland Cartography intellectual property may result in enforcement of our rights under applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.
