Stand With Us - Help Stop Deforestation

As the daughter of a biologist, I always heard a lot about ways we can help protect our environment. One of my earliest memories was meeting the Smoky Bear and receiving a sticker that said "Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires". Apparently, some people didn't get that message. My dad is no longer with us, but he would be horrified to see the tragedy taking place in South America right now. We have a major problem - with over 80,000 fires in the amazon, the global community is at risk for a climate catastrophe.

As a way to do my part in helping make the world a little bit better, I will be donating a portion of proceeds for all sales made through the Carland Cartography website through the end of the year to the Nature Conservancy. A part of your purchase will go directly to helping mitigate some of the damage that has already been done and to help us move towards a more hopeful future.

The Nature Conservancy is a non-profit global charitable organization who honors all creatures that have a stake in the preservation of the world's natural resources. They are highly rated with charity watchdog organizations and hold themselves accountable by making the best use of every dollar donated. With over six decades of experience, this organization has protected more than 119 million acres of land and 5,000 river miles.

As I continue to grow Carland Cartography, I am moving towards more eco-friendly processes and materials. We try to reduce waste by having a made-to-order business strategy so that there isn't excessive inventory. Also, we have switched some of our vendors to more sustainable companies, including using Bay Photo Lab for our prints, which a green certified business. We are also in the process of developing a new line of clothing and accessories using Vida Studio, which connects independent creators with sustainable processing factories all over the world.

In the meantime, please help us fight against deforestation. 10% of all sales through the end of the year will be donated to the Nature Conservancy  on Dec 31.
